SACRIFICIAL LOVE – Serving Before Self
Scripture:
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13 (NIV)
Reflection:
The world measures greatness by what a man gains. Jesus measured greatness by what a man is willing to give.
Christ did not come demanding to be served. He came to serve. He washed feet, carried burdens, embraced the broken and ultimately gave His life on the cross for people who could never repay Him.
As Christian men, we are called to follow that same example.
Sacrificial love is found in the ordinary moments of life. It is choosing patience over anger, listening before speaking, serving without expecting recognition and placing the needs of your family above your own comfort.
This isn't about earning God's favor. Christ has already secured that through His death and resurrection. Instead, we serve because we have first been served by Him.
Every act of humble service becomes a reflection of the One who first loved us.
Real strength is not found in demanding your own way. It is found in laying it down for someone else.
Reflection Question:
Read: Mark 10:45 (NIV)
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Ask yourself:
• Am I looking for opportunities to serve or opportunities to be noticed?
• Where has pride kept me from putting someone else's needs first?
• How can I reflect Christ's servant heart today?
